Résumé

This paper focuses on the language practices and language policies of the three migrant Indian communities, settled in France, in Norway and in Finland. What is the status of native language in the home and what is the role of a host language in their daily life? Commencing with a brief study on the language policies of the three nations, the issue will be raised in particular about the family language politicies in relation to several languages in the repertoire of family members. The preliminary report highlights the fact that the migrant family opts for the conservation of native languages at the detriment of host languages. Moreover, the language conflict, between migrant parents and host countries, has consequences on the migrant children who are believed to be torn apart between two cultures and two countries.
